Life in the gypsy camps in Florence is by now so well known and commented on that it no longer gives cause for amazement - what remains however is the annoyance of knowing that they are still there. In a time of closings and resistance, this reportage would like to show the mood and expressions of the people still living in the Olmatello community. They are living in discomfort, waiting for when the time comes to leave. More than ever the gypsies who are in the camp feel as if they are living in a precarious balance between the inside and out. In fact, if on the one hand they are waiting to be allowed to fit in to life in a town which understands them, on the other hand they are aware of being more and more threatened and spurned by a town that has taken strong measures on immigration.  (More) ...
