The fascination that emanates from women’s shoes profoundly marks the image of men, tracing it back to the stereotypes and surprises about the thousand faces of the female world, attributing qualities to these “objects” that have nothing to do with aesthetic facts: nothing to do with fetishism, but rather the recognition of quality, which is indissolubly and intrinsically linked to the important features of the wearer of the shoes. As a cult item and necessary accessory, shoes have traversed time and fashions, taking many different forms, yet leaving the foot at the centre of attention, crowning forms of the highest elegance. A photographic fascination that in Di Gangi was born purely by chance while admiring the style of Hollywood divas from the 1940’s and 1950’s; of them all, Joan Crawford, who on the set often wore wonderful foot apparel giving a sense of the incredible elegance that she wanted to express. With the passing of time images and fashions change, evolve, experiment, and women’s feet still remain at the centre of attention, in every occasion, event and social situation.  (More) ...
