Wanny Di Filippo, founder and designer of Il Bisonte. Eclectic soul of the brand, curious, imaginative and open-minded. Passionate collector of bisons. “I have always been fascinated by the image of peace and strength that bisons convey”: these are the words of Wanny Di Filippo, a fashion designer and entrepreneur, the very soul of the Il Bisonte trademark, a prestigious trademark of leather goods, strictly made in Italy. Wanny’s story is intriguing. At the end of the 1960’s, he was a spare parts representative in Italy; but it was on Sardinia’s beaches, at the weekend, that his creative adventure began, by making goat skin leather accessories which he then gave to his friends. As Wanny says himself: “A love that then became my work” A love not only for design, creativity and imagination but also for materials, shapes and colours, rather like a large game where all the senses are mixed together, which, one step at a time, has made ll Bisonte so successful. “In actual fact, I knew nothing about the bags of that period as they were extremely structured; instead, I designed bags that were really a sort of sack, practically two pieces of leather stuck together and tied with a piece of string”. At the end of the 1970’s, Wanny settled in Via del Parione, in a mansion that once belonged to Pope Clement XII - Lorenzo Corsini (1730-1740) where he still has his shop and offices to which he added his modern factory in Pontassieve in 2001.  (More) ...
