Magellan telescopes. The Magellan Project is a collaboration between Carnegie Institution of Washington (OCIW) Observatories, University of Arizona, Harvard University, University of Michigan, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). They are going to build two 6.5-metre optical telescopes in the Southern hemisphere. The telescopes will be located at Las Campanas Observatory, at an altitude of 2300m in the Chilean Andes, and operated by OCIW.
