Tom Cleveland, 85, was a nurse in the Combat Medical Infantry, 16th Platoon under 7th army. He was a T5 (medical technician). He was forced into the army, and fought in Tunisia, Morocco, Sicily, and landed in Marseille. He followed the combats in Strasbourg, in Germany and in Austria. With the American troups, he liberated several concentration camps. But the horror was stronger: he lost his memory and had to go back to the USA. After the war he worked in the Uranium mines of the Navajo Nation, without being aware of the risk he ran by manipulating the substance. Today he lives in a humble house with no water and no electricity near Shiprock, in the Navajo Nation. He suffers from the consequences of the radiations, and is disappointed by the Federal Government who Òhas abandoned us indian veterans. We gave as much as the others but never received the same gratitude. In picture 30 he is with his wife Catherine.
