Daniel Yazzie, PFC in the 1st Infantry division, 460th battalion. (In photo 32 with George Bleurhorse, responsible for the Shiprock bureau of Navajo Veterans Affairs. In photo 33 he is with his wife). Daniel fought for his country and for the future generations. In the chaos of the fights, he found strength in his religion. "I prayed mother earth and father sky to help me going on. And I saw the American flag in front of me, the one I had to defend. I was not scared". After the war, it took him three years to recover a psychological balance. He was injured while crossing the Atlantic ocean towards England, and was never able to receive the indemnities from the Government.
