George Kaslamatzis, a Greek-born miner, set off on the adventure over 30 years ago. Before arriving in Coober Pedy he was digging septic tanks in Sydney. He admits making thousands of dollars at once several times (over 100,000 FF). The money, he promises, was used especially to renew the material. It is the end of a period: the excavator has replaced the sifter, he sighs. While awaiting his destiny, he makes ends meet by working in one of the service stations in the area. George Kaslamatzis will never leave the desert, unless he finds that rare stone.
