In November, around 400 elephants arrive in Surin on foot. The gathering is impressive. The pachyderms participate in re-creations of historical fights, tests of force and demonstrations of skill. Obstacle courses, tug of war (one elephant against one hundred fifty men) and parades in combat uniform or showy dress, they prove their amazing physical capacities during a grand, colourful show.
