Mothers in the central hospital of Bangui spend a few weeks with their undernourished children in the childrenâs ward. Malnutrition is a serious problem in the Central African Republic. The infant mortality rate at 176 per 1000 is amongst the highest in the world. In the rural areas this problem is even bigger where hundreds of thousands of IDPâs have no access to balanced food, clean drinking water or even basic medical facilities.
