Riberalta, Bolivia, 30-06-06. Processing of Brazilnuts in a collective 'benificiadora' in the Bolivian Amazon. Brazil nuts, or Para nuts grow in coconutlike husks in the highest tree of he jungle, the impressive CastanĚa tree. The nuts fall down and are then collected by the locals. The CastanĚa tree can only survive with the surrounding jungle intact. That's why the exploitation of this nut is a sustainable way to preserve the forest and make it profitable for it's inhabitants.
